Originally founded as The Dean Brothers by John and Jim Dean, two brothers from Harrogate, England. From a very early age they
listened to their Dad's favourite country music artists; George Jones, Merle
Haggard and Hank Williams. |
|
Their increasing love of the music was very evident in their performance, and during their first year they won several Country Music Awards - such was their impact on the British country music scene. |
|
Not long after this, the Deans were delighted to be picked to appear in a seven part Granada TV series "September Song" with Russ Abbott, Michael Williams and Spice Girl Mel B.
|
Because of too much
travelling, in 2002 Jim decided to leave the band. Besides their own compositions they also play a wide variety of well known Country and Rock & Roll songs . The Elvis Tribute album was a great success, and they regularly perform songs from it, which are appreciated by the line dancers as well as by a listening audience |
|
The first of their "A Chance to Dance" series, which features twenty of the most popular line dance tracks, appeared in the National Country Music charts for several months and sold in excess of 10,000 copies.
Their most famous song, "My Baby Thinks She's a Train" has been heard on several TV programs, plus of course Country Music Television. Another of their own tracks ‘Cryin in the Rain’ reached number 8 in the Wild Horse Saloon Music Chart in Nashville and the video for the same song received heavy CMT airplay.
The Deans' CD's are now selling world wide with requests coming in across the Internet from places as far away as Australia and Singapore.

The Deans appeared on TV during the BBC's "Children in Need" program playing one of their own songs "I Forgot to Remember'. They were invited to appear again in 1999 when they released the maxi single, "These Boots Are Ready To Dance" coupled with "The Three Bears" with all profits going to the charity. The Deans were also asked to perform at the official Guinness Book of Records "Worlds’ Longest Line Dance" attempt. The event was filmed for the BBC's Record Breakers in front of more than 5,000 people.

In May 1997 The Deans were
thrilled to be invited to support the Bellamy Brothers at the Shepherd's Bush
Empire in London.
The boys were very well received and according to the theatre merchandiser, the
Deans' new CD outsold the Bellamy's - the first time she and ever seen a
‘support’ act outselling the main band!
The Deans recorded a six-week
series about line dancing with Border TV in which all the music was written and
performed by The Deans.
Their music is also featured on the Lionel Blair Line Dance Teaching Video but
don't hold this against them, sorry Lionel.
In the summer of 1997, the Deans
hosted what turned out to be one of the biggest and best line dance and country
music festivals of the year.
'A Chance To Dance' was a massive success, with thousands of people enjoying
music and dancing over a four day long weekend.
The Deans held eight hugely successful festivals, until due to juggling work
load and family decided to just continue to run their hotel weekend events and
holidays in the sun. The festivals are still remembered today as being the best
time to be a Line Dancer.
The Deans are repeatedly asked to perform at all the major events such as Wembley, The G Mex Centre, Disney Paris etc and are developing a large following throughout Europe.
They can be found performing at Line Dance Events, Country Music Events, Elvis Presley Weekends, Theatres, their repertoire is simply vast.
